Arriving to Derbecen by plane
If you arrive to Budapest by airplane, you can take a train to Debrecen. InterCity trains from Budapest to Debrecen stop at Ferihegy train station. Train tickets can be purchased from the ticket machines located on the platforms or online on the website of MÁV-START, the Hungarian railway company. For InterCity trains you need to buy a ticket plus seat reservation that will cost you about HUF 5000 one way. The seat reservation ticket contains the car number ("kocsi") and the seat number ("hely").
You may also take a flight directly to Debrecen. There are flights from several european cities, see the webpages of WizzAir or Lufthansa for more details. Unfortunately these flights do not operate on every day of the week. You may also check the webpage of the Debrecen Airport for timetables.

The method of checking road use authorization is based on vehicle registration numbers, thus, there is no need to use "physical" vignettes or windscreen stickers.
Tickets are available for ten days, one month, or one year. For usual cars (up to seven seats) you need a ticket of category D1. See this article for more information.
