The meeting is targeted at early career researchers (so ‘young’ in career terms rather than years!), in particular students (Bachelor, Master and PhD) and those who have completed their PhD within the last five years.
The goals of the meeting are to provide a forum for discussion of ongoing research, and for early-career researchers to enhance their network by meeting with peers in a relaxed and informal setting.
However, we welcome everyone with an interest in ornithology, although the programme of presentations, apart from the plenaries, will be specifically for early career researchers to present and discuss their work.
Type of participants
You can attend the meeting with or without a presentation, but seniors (who are not a student and completed their Ph.D. more than 5 years before) can attend only without a presentation.
You can choose from 3 types of presentations:
- short presentation: 3 minutes of talk and 2 minutes for questions
- normal presentation: 12 minutes of talk and 3 minutes for questions
- poster presentation
DO-G Conference Scholarship
The German Ornithological Society (Deutsche Ornithologen-Gesellschaft e.V) will support the attendance of 10 participants with 250€. Please find the document here.

Please add to the comment section of the bank transfer "III. EOU Fledglings Meeting" and your name. After payment, we will prepare an invoice for you. Therefore, please add your tax number to the billing info during registration.
Accomodation
We do not have pre-booked rooms for this conference, therefore you have to make reservations on your own. Debrecen has a good number of nice and affordable hostels and hotels (€20-€150), including many within the old town.

Banking
In Hungary banking hours are between 8:00 am and 16:00, Monday to Friday. All over the city you can find ATM-s which can be accessed 24 hours a day, using credit or debit VISA or MasterCard cards. The monetary system in Hungary is based on forint (HUF).
Food
The registration fee includes 4 coffee breaks, one pizza dinner on Thursday night and one lunch on Friday.
You can find several small shops close to the venue (5-25 mins by foot) to buy additional meals. Also, you can find nice restaurants in walking distance from the venue, and you can order warm food easily with the "Wolt" app. We warmly encourage everyone for social foraging.
Language
The conference language will be English.
