2nd Debrecen Online Conference on Infectious Diseases in a One Health context (DOCIDOH)
2nd Debrecen Online Conference on Infectious Diseases in a One Health context
The One Health approach has established itself as an important tool for the investigation, surveillance and containment of infectious diseases. Human and veterinary pathogens can spread across multiple hosts and the environment, creating complex and often poorly understood transmission networks or driving evolutionary events that lead to the emergence or re-emergence of novel or neglected infectious diseases. These include foodborne, waterborne and vector-borne diseases, as well as the hidden epidemic of antimicrobial resistance – all of which pose a major challenge to healthcare, the economy and society and require urgent attention. The 1st DOCIDOH brought together physicians, veterinarians, environmentalists, epidemiologists, molecular biologists, ecologists and various other experts to discuss issues related to One Health.
As a follow-up to the first DOCIDOH and to promote discussion and knowledge exchange, the One Health Institute of the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management and the Department of Metagenomics of the University of Debrecen announces the second Debrecen Online Conference on Infectious Diseases in a One Health context (DOCIDOH), which will take place from 18 to 20 June 2025.
The conference aims at attracting researchers in the topics:
- antimicrobial resistance in a One Health perspective
- alternatives to antimicrobials in human and veterinary medicine
- genomic epidemiology of pathogens across sectors
- emerging and re-emerging diseases and vectors
- parasites ecology
- ecology of infections, environmental DNA and environmental health
- bioinformatic tools for One Health research
- food safety and foodborne diseases
- social perceptions of antibiotics and their alternatives (e.g. phage therapy, vaccination)
Registration will be free of charge and will open at 10 March. Abstracts are expected to be submitted before 25 May. The length of abstracts are maximized in 1500 characters including whitespaces, excluding the title, list of authors and affiliations. We expect 10+5 minutes long presentations. Breakout rooms on the above topics will be organized between the sections of the event.
The deadline for the submission of abstracts is extended until 25 May 2025.
