11th International Conference on Diffusion in Materials (DIMAT)

Dear Colleague,

since the actual epidemiological situation does not allow us to meet in-person, the 11’th Diffusion in Materials conference will be held on an online platform. In this second circular we invite you to submit abstracts for the DIMAT 2021 International Conference.

  • Abstracts Submission Deadline is extended: June 15, 2021
  • Please re-upload your Abstracts submitted last year.

Abstract Submission Information

  • Abstracts may be submitted for oral or poster presentations, in English only.
  • Notifications to presenting authors will be sent by June 21, 2021.
  • Registration of the presenting author is mandatory. In order to ensure inclusion in the program, registration fee should be received by June 30, 2021.

The scientific program and the abstracts will be published online on this website. Submission of the abstract constitutes the authors’ consent to such publication.

DIMAT-2021 Proceedings will be published in the online journal “Diffusion Fundamentals”. All presenters are encouraged to submit the manuscripts of their oral and poster presentations.

Proceedings paper submission deadline : August 15, 2021

Concerning the technical detailes of this virtual conference we will provide you with the necessary informations on the conference website (DIMAT 2021).

Abstract Submission Guidelines

Before you start the abstract submission process, please read and prepare all necessary information detailed below.

The on-line Abstract Submission Form includes the following parts:

Part 1: Presenting author’s contact details (use full first name and last name)

Part 2: Authors

  • By default, the name of the presenting author will automatically appear as the first author, but the order may be changed as you insert additional names.
  • Insert the names of the additional Authors in the order that they should appear in the Authors list.
  • You will be able to change the order, if needed.
  • Use full first name and last name of all authors.

Part 3: Affiliation/s (Institution/s)

  • Insert name of institution, department, city (state, if relevant) and country. After each institution you have listed, check the box/es of author/s associated with that institution.
  • Make a separate entry for each institution. DO NOT repeat identical institution details if they apply to more than one author.
  • Text should be in Upper and Lower Case.
  • Do not abbreviate Department, Institute, University, etc.
  • In the Department field, type in “Department of” If relevant, as only the words you type in will show on the abstract.

Part 4a: Presentation type

Select from:

  • Oral presentation
  • Poster presentation
  • Oral or Poster
  • Invited lecture (to be selected by invited speakers only)

Part 4b: Topic

  • Please select from the list below, the topic that describes best your presentation.

A. Fundamentals

  • A1. Theory of diffusion
  • A2. Diffusion equations: Fick, Fokker-Planck, Cahn-Hilliard
  • A3. Atomistic and ab-initio and phase field studies of diffusion
  • A4. New methods in computer simulations (hybrid and multiscale techniques)
  • A5. etc.

B. What is diffusing, where is it diffusing?

  • B1. Tracer diffusion, chemical interdiffusion, reactive diffusion
  • B2. Metals, semiconductors, ceramics, glasses, minerals, polymers
  • B3. Short-circuit diffusion paths (grain- and interphase boundaries, surfaces, dislocations)
  • B4. Diffusion in 1D-3D nanostructures (thin films, multilayers, nanowires, nanotubes, nanoparticles)
  • B5. Diffusion in driven systems, diffusion in irradiated materials
  • B6. Nanocrystalline and ultrafine grain materials
  • B7. Diffusion in biological systems
  • B8. New experimental techniques for diffusion studies

C. Diffusion-related phenomena

  • C1. Energy storage and conversion
  • C2. Wetting and joining
  • C3. Thermal processing and phase transformations
  • C4. Corrosion and oxidation

Part 5a: Abstract Title

Limited to 25 words. Use Sentence case (See list of topics above – only the first character in the sentence is capitalized, except for specific rules).

Part 5b: Abstract body

  • Limited to 275 words including references (fewer if a figure/table is included).
  • Abbreviations must be defined upon first use and avoided in the title.
  • Images and tables may be uploaded in JPG, GIF or PNG format. Please note that each image equals to approx. 35 words. Images should be of up to 500kb.
  • Copy & paste your abstract into the abstract area or type it in directly.

Part 6: Preview

Most important: proofread your abstract and insert/format special characters that may have been corrupted in the copy & paste process. You can navigate to previous pages by using the Back button on your browser.

After proofreading the abstract, click “SUBMIT”.

Part 7: End Message

After you click SUBMIT, an automatic “End Message” will indicate that the abstract was successfully submitted.

E-mail Acknowledgement & Abstract Number: Shortly after submitting your abstract, you will receive by e-mail an automatic submission acknowledgement which will include your abstract number. and also a link to access your abstract, should you wish to modify it.

ORAL PRESENTATION

General Instructions:

  • INVITED TALK (30 minutes including questions)
  • ORAL PRESENTATION (20 minutes including questions)
  • PLENARY LECTURE (45-50 minutes including questions)

Please note that there will be no translation during the sessions, so please prepare your presentation in English. Online technical support will be provided to facilitate and coordinate the smooth delivery of all oral presentations. Please follow the guidelines below.
