Dear Colleagues,

Save the date and join us at the 11th International Conference on Diffusion in Materials (DIMAT), to be held on July 4-9, 2021, at the University of Debrecen, in Debrecen, Hungary. Since the actual epidemiological situation does not allow us to meet in-person, the event will be held on an online platform.

DIMAT-2021

The motto of the DIMAT-2021 is

“back to the roots”

Why? Because the DIMAT conference series (called that time DIMETA) started in Hungary in 1982 organized by Prof. Ferenc Kedves and Prof. Dezső Beke. The second DIMAT was also in Hungary in 1988. Since, DIMAT has been organized in several countries with great success; and now DIMAT comes back to Hungary. The honorary chairman of the conference is:

DIMAT is now an internationally recognized conference series for diffusion and mass transfer in solids. It aims at bringing together researchers working in diverse areas of Materials Science and Solid State Physics, in which the kinetics of atom movements within the solids plays a major role. One of the aims of DIMAT-2021 is to reach out to the less-traditional field of science and technology where the atomic random walks are important, such as mineralogy, energy storage and conversion, biomimetic and biological materials, polymers and hybrid organic-inorganic materials. Special attention will be addressed to all diffusion controlled complex processes, like corrosion, surface treatment or radiation effects. Moreover, DIMAT-2021 will cover new challenges associated with structural, multifunctional and intelligent materials, in which understanding the role of diffusion as the mastering process is of a paramount importance.

The participation of young researchers is especially encouraged and welcomed.

The conference will include plenary and invited lectures, oral talks, poster presentations.

Debrecen is Hungary's second largest city after Budapest. It is the regional centre of the Northern Great Plain region and the seat of Hajdú-Bihar county. About 38.2% of the county's population live here. It was the largest Hungarian city in the 18th century and it is one of the Hungarian people's most important cultural centres. Debrecen was also the capital city of Hungary during the revolution in 1848–1849. During the revolution, the dethronement of the Habsburg dynasty was declared in the Reformed Great Church. The city also served as the capital of Hungary by the end of the World War II in 1944–1945. Debrecen, sometimes referred to as "the Calvinist Rome" or "civic city", is the spiritual, cultural, economic, tourist and transport centre of the Eastern Hungary Region, the Northern Great Plain Statistical Region and the Tiszántúl Large Landscape and one of the most dynamically developing cities in Hungary.
