Workshop on Aerogels Characterization and Modelling
WELCOME
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are pleased to invite you to the Workshop on Aerogels Characterization and Modelling, which will be held on 29 - 31 March 2023, in Debrecen, Hungary.
The conference is organized by the AERoGELS COST Action (https://cost-aerogels.eu/) and hosted by the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Debrecen.
AIMS & SCOPE
Aerogels are widely known as nanostructured porous ultra-light solid materials comprising mostly of air. With unique properties traceable to their nanostructure, aerogels make their way into advanced technology. The characterization as well as modelling and simulation of porous nanostructured materials is essential in understanding their operation mechanism in a wide range of applications.
The scope of the workshop is the fundamental and applied characterization and modelling of porous materials in the broadest sense, from molecular spectroscopy to surface analytical techniques, from calculations on the atomic level to process modelling. Beside assembling and integrating the most recent scientific and technological knowledge in aerogels and other nanostructured materials, the workshop also aims at strengthening and creating new ties and collaborations in the aerogel community all over the world.
Oral and poster presentations are both welcome. Early-career investigators such as PhD students and young postdoctoral scientists are also strongly encouraged to present their research in progress. Networking among workshop participants will be encouraged through poster sessions, coffee breaks, meals and social events. Participants are invited to submit high quality research works on several topics of interest which include, but not restricted to, the following areas:
- Surface characterization of porous materials
- Chemical characterization of porous materials
- Characterization method development
- Theoretical aspects of materials characterization
- Relationship between structure of porous materials and their properties
- Structural models of porous materials
- Modelling of physical and chemical processes in porous materials
- Modelling and simulation of the formation of porous materials
- Industrial process optimization
